So Thursday this week saw the continuation of the inter insular with Mike Brehaut of Creative Photography What fantastic weather we didn't have! Gale force winds, boats cancelled. Shooting outdoor portraits was going to be a challenge to say the least. A BIG thank you to April our model for the day for braving the conditions. Apart from catching up with Mike again I was really excited to have the opportunity to shoot with the Nikon D800. The camera is simply fantastic the images it produces are truly stunning, the level of detail produced by the 36mp files are breathtaking. Nikon's ergonomics make the camera "just feel right" and was very similar to my D700 which is a good thing.
The auto focus was very quick and accurate even using the outer focus points in the very dark Plemont cave. The camera has dual card slots which is a welcome feature. The files are over 70mb in size so the cards will fill up very quickly so the camera is not the first choice for sports or weddings that is what the D700 is brilliant at, but when you need to produce large images, such as commercial and advertising shots the D800 is king.
